New Type of Questionnaire - Paul Nachbar

I've been through perhaps hundreds of psychological tests and questionnaires over the past few years and have even written a couple. While talking with friends, both high IQ and low, came up with the following notion: a list of say, five things which provided sustained (emphasis on SUSTAINED) enthusiasm and or sources of inspiration. Probably the correlated results of such a survey would be different for people at different "levels" of measurable intelligence especialy as correlated with other factors. But detailed psychometrics is really not my thing. I was just wondering if anybody could come up with such a list and what would be on it. Thank you for all efforts. Then I guess, for whomever this may benefit, i might comment here..on the "results' at a later time. Part of the point of this , for me at least, is also to filter out what for this regard might be considered endless psychologization of certain individual and/vs society considerations.

Paul

Reply to New Type of Questionnaire - Dr. Greg Grove

Paul,

What you ask is not impossible. It would be very easy to ask people of varying IQ levels, academic levels, occupational levels, and so forth to list the top five things or activities that sustain them (inspire them, motivate them). People are generally motivated by three aspects: information, people, and things. The first are drawn to almanacs, nonfiction, dictionaries, newspapers, the media; the second are drawn to social events, Hollywood "haps," soaps; the third are drawn to cars, computers, construction, and so forth. You could easily use that division to then acquire lists from people, then have the various groups select their top five. You'd take all the preferred items and do one more analysis with the groups by presenting the most preferred items and having the individuals rank them. The psychometric analysis of the data would be relatively easy. Good luck.

Puzzle: - Quinn Tyler Jackson

Farmer Jethro one morning discovers the dead body of an Extraterrestrial on his dairy farm. He also discovers, much to his chagrin, a dead cow in a state of ... shall we say ... mutilation.

After close examination of the two bodies (ET and cow), Farmer Jethro notices that the cow has been tattooed with what appear to be the numbers:

153#373#7

The digits marked as # are not legible ....

He also notes some facts about the ET:

1. The ET has what appear to be sesame seeds around his "mouth".
2. The ET has no pinky fingers. Not even stumps where the pinkies should be.
3. The ET appears to be dressed like Napoleon.

The questions are:

1. How did the ET likely die?
2. What have the aliens attempted to communicate with the number?

beard. He silenced with gesture gathered and the strangest delivered
speech, it what Alicji put in way to hear ever.

- Colleagues logicians. We, the most disciplined the and exact minds
of fairyland, we assembled on our 125 here today - this yearly
convention. We will hear they could the amazing fairy tales of logic,
we will think about things for usual conceived mortals, we will
trawerse the slopes of infinite enquires and the the most exacting
intellect ways. Treat first we have to make sure that no intruder
hides in our circle.

Then professor moved around table, every passed logician sticking to
forehead small colourful dot. Having returned to one's places at top
of table, he began interpretation principles of this bizarre
experiment.

- Every of you sees on foreheads all dots his colleagues, but I was
nobody careful not to perceive colour of his own. Colour is guess
with task of every of you, what his forehead be appointed.

- Only wins over is rule and she is straight line. Every minute this
bell will phonate. If in moment of bell someone with you will know
the colour the dot, it which carries, let it will get up from table
and adds to me on neighbouring glade where the convention will will
roll further. If however his colour be him unknown continually, let
it will stay near table.

- This, who will stay near table when he should will get up, or gets
up also when he should sits rather, it it can not address bright
thing logician. Someone such will be removed with this convention,
with irrevocable prohibition of return.

Professor was going already to go away when clear embarrassment
turned his attention the brightest with novices. These words
dispersed his doubt:

- It be not afraid youthful. This task is possible to solve. It
though, obviously, you one may not were was in no way communicate
with me.

The novice smiled, because the Orator of Meeting the most disciplined
the and exact minds of fairyland it it can not deliver false
sentences.

At a guess surprised already to Alice every borders, professor
lowered meeting and experiment he began.

Four persons on first slices of fish lowered the table. On second,
all with red dots got up together and went out. Nobody near third
moved, during when she on fourth reacted at least wins over person.
Remembered already novice as well as his present sister, both with
dots of different colour, they got up briefly then, but every
earlier, than for the highest time.

Sound sleep had surrounded tired long speeches Alice before test
reached end. Can you reveal her, bell reverberated times how much
before table had become deserted?

I think that the most important think is Algorithm in this
case .......

Bills IQ Test - Paul Nachbar

After dealing with the Bills life sends you
The Intrigues you go through to pay them
The Lies (or Libels) all around you
And the Shame of reaching some less than perfect state*
Do you have a 0> quantity of Love as input or output in your life?

The test is pass/fail though obviously some would do better than others.
Repeat sessions are permitted and perhaps inevitable. No proctor is necessary.

*Regarding less than Perfect States: obviously there is much more to life than
what appears on this test -joys, satisfactions, whatever. On the other hand,
there is much more to life than sequences of prime numbers and obscure
vocabulary items
