A.K. Robertson is a fifty-three year old
public school superintendent in rural southeast Missouri. Mr.
Robertson has been married to his beautiful and sexy wife, Cindy, for
twenty-five years; and together they have four children, and one
grandchild.
Although Mr. Robertson has
written very little poetry in recent years, his early training as a
secondary English teacher at the University of Missouri exposed him to
good literature, especially poetry (e.g. the poet Donald F. Drummond);
and taught him the difference between the art of a craftsman and the
drivel of doggerel. Unfortunately for readers, Mr. Robertson's
personal efforts have self-admittedly fallen into the latter category
more often than not.
As he approaches retirement, Mr.
Robertson intends to draw upon his life experiences as a farm boy, truck driver,
U.S. Marine, father and husband, educator, martial arts enthusiast, and
sports fanatic to vigorously attempt to compose verse in both
afore-mentioned categories; and share these attempts with the world
whether or not the world extends invitation.
A.K. Robertson writes
under the pseudonym "el viejo".
Intelligence Quandary-Tommy Smith With
the advent of the internet and it's introduction to pop-culture, the IQ
craze has spread like wildfire. As I peruse the pages of the web I
constantly
find new tests that claim to assess intelligence within 3-5 points of an
individual's "true" IQ score. Some of these are said to be for
entertainment purposes only but still they scare me. As the high IQ
community expands and new groups are born, some of these tests are being
introduced into membership criteria. The value of proctored exams
will be overshadowed by an individual's desire to join these new
groups. It doesn't take an expert to know that one can cheat these
tests with just a bit of HTML (and in some cases Cold Fusion) knowledge. I
urge these groups to carefully assess these tests beyond their internal
validity and study their technical integrity. Society requirements
are being diluted by opting to accept these tests. |
